Patient underwent a culture and systemic antibiotics were applied accordingly. Despite the antibiotics and the initial debridement, improvement was not dramatic until the patient started on the twice-a-day regimen using the water irrigator.
Nonsurgical periodontal treatment was performed on a number of occasions involving perioscopic scaling. There was still inflammation present and the patient was encouraged to use a water irrigator on a twice-daily basis. She's been extremely compliant to this regimen.
